Jennifer Raper MA (Hons) MA, PGDip, Registered Member MBACP
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist in advanced training in Transactional Analysis psychotherapy.
I spent 20 or so years working in the UK university sector in the area of Student Services, supporting the welfare, pastoral and immigration needs of international students. Alongside my clinical psychotherapy work, this has given me extensive experience of working cross-culturally, and allowed me to provide support individually for students as well as in groups, with issues including culture shock, cultural identity, loneliness, peer pressure, academic and career-related stress, anxiety, suicide ideation and many other issues.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Transactional Analysis (Psychotherapy) Studies, further to successfully completing four years of psychotherapy training at Metanoia Institute, Ealing. I have undertaken professional development training in areas including personality disorders, domestic violence, self-harm and suicidality, diversity and mental health. Non-clinical qualifications include an undergraduate degree (MA Hons) in French, and a postgraduate degree (MA) in European Languages and Cultural Studies.
The philosophical and theoretical principles which I draw upon in my work as a psychotherapist are based on the humanistic and essentially integrative values of Transactional Analysis. Underpinning my work with counselling and psychotherapy clients is the belief that human beings are inherently relational, co-operative, growth-seeking and with a natural aspiration towards autonomy
I offer counselling and psychotherapy services in the Settle and Skipton area of North Yorkshire. I am fully insured, adhere to the code of ethics of the professional bodies with whom I am a member and registered.
